The Opening Conference of LifeTime will take place on 6 and 7 May in Berlin. The pan-European research initiative aims to develop new technologies for the treatment and early detection of diseases.

Under the title “Understanding Cells to Revolutionize Healthcare”, researchers, political decision-makers, industry leaders and prominent figures of the scientific community will gather in Berlin to discuss strategies to better understand how diseases arise and develop in the human body – cell by cell.

At the opening conference, the LifeTime consortium will present its vision and goals and discuss the state of the art of technologies that form the pillars of the initiative (single cell multi-omics; data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning; experimental disease models such as organoids).

The LifeTime consortium aims to investigate how genomes function in cells, how cells form tissues and organs, and how their activities change dynamically as diseases progress.

The long-term goal of LifeTime is to advance the understanding of diseases, improve early detection and prevention, and develop innovative treatments for chronic and progressive diseases. It is about the precision medicine of the future.

LifeTime is coordinated by Professor Nikolaus Rajewsky at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin and Dr. Geneviève Almouzni at the Institut Curie in Paris. More than 120 leading scientists, over 50 renowned European research institutions from 18 countries and more than 70 companies are involved in LifeTime.
